2 Types of Towing That You Should Know

An open space in a certain place doesn’t immediately mean that it is open for parking. There are areas, especially public and private properties that are labeled no parking zones.

Avoid the hassle of handling towing in your condo association and consider these two types of towing.

Why Towing Happens

Towing can be a real situation when you have cars that are parked in areas that shouldn’t be. Especially with visitor parking, residents can get aggravated about other people not parking in their designated spots.

There are two ways to tow vehicles in these situations.

The 2 Types of Towing

1. On-patrol

In an on-patrol towing, the towing company has a list of the licenses or, most commonly a tag, that you hang from your window or a sticker that you put into a part of your vehicle.

This type of towing follows a proactive approach 24/7. If the vehicle doesn’t have this tag or a sticker when the towing company drives by the property, they will then tow that vehicle.

Towing companies never charge for it. They make money from when they tow the car and the owner has to pay for it to get it out of the lot.

2. On-call

Another common way to tow vehicles is on an on-call basis. That means that you as a trustee or an owner will call us, the property management company, or even the tow company, directly.

You will then tell us the model of the vehicle, the license plate, and its location so it can be towed.

Choosing between these two types of towing really depends on how your association wants to handle parking situations and how quickly you want to enforce them.
